She particularly enjoyed exploring the facilities including the billiard room in the clubhouse where she is pictured.<\/p>\n<p>Gloria, 76, was invited to\u00a0unveil Martlet House, which houses 12 two-bedroom apartments, in the latest phase of the scheme in West Sussex which will have 154 apartments and cottages in total when completed.<\/p>\n<p>She\u00a0opened\u00a0the show home\u00a0and was given\u00a0a tour of the bar, library and\u00a0indoor-heated swimming pool. So I have appointed two wardrobe girls and told them to get rid of everything after I go.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;But I am truly impressed with Durrants Village &#8211; it is a wonderful concept.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-21640\" src=\"http:\/\/newclone.retiremove.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/Gloria-at-retirement-village1.jpg\" alt=\"Gloria-at-retirement-village1\" width=\"389\" height=\"269\" data-id=\"21640\" srcset=\"https:\/\/newclone.retiremove.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/Gloria-at-retirement-village1.jpg 600w, https:\/\/newclone.retiremove.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/Gloria-at-retirement-village1-300x207.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 389px) 100vw, 389px\" \/>Well-known for her work on television programmes such as Cash in the Attic\u00a0and Rip off Britain, Gloria mingled with residents and friends and\u00a0met Valerie (pictured) and Arthur Slack, 78, who had lost their son when he was just 50 in a motor cycle accident six years ago.<\/p>\n<p>The presenter was able to empathise with the Slacks\u00a0as she lost her own daughter Caron Keating from breast cancer in 2004. Interestingly the Slacks moved from a retirement apartment they had bought in November to move to Durrants Village. &#8220;Had we known about Durrants Village we would have come straight here; we made a mistake &#8211; we should have met the other owners first before we bought.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>At Durrants Village,\u00a0which also has\u00a0a restaurant, some\u00a0105 properties\u00a0have already been built with\u00a0a further 50 due to\u00a0be completed at the end of next year.
