New research reveals post Brexit boom in demand for\u00a0retirement housing in UK as concerns rise about retiring abroad<\/h3>\nNew research reveals post Brexit boom in demand for\u00a0retirement housing in UK as concerns rise about retiring abroad<\/h3>\nAccording to housing and care provider Anchor, some\u00a045\u00a0per cent\u00a0of people aged 50+, are now less likely to retire abroad.<\/p>\n
And of those previously considering leaving the UK to retire in Europe, 41 per cent are now less likely to following Britain\u2019s decision to leave the EU.<\/p>\n
In the\u00a0nine months since\u00a0the referendum, Anchor reports an increase in\u00a0the number of people inquiring about their retirement properties;\u00a0some\u00a0641 per cent increase on last year\u2019s figures.<\/p>\n
The\u00a0residents at one of Anchor\u2019s retirement properties, Keble Court in Hampshire, have even dubbed the community \u2018Costa del Keble\u2019 to add a bit of Spanish charm and welcome the 41 per cent of retirees that are reconsidering a retirement overseas.\u00a0![\"\"](\"http:\/\/newclone.retiremove.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/ANCHOR-KEBLE-COURT-JOHN-JUNE-1.jpg\")

Anchor\u2019s research also captures the post-Brexit concerns and priorities of those over the age of 50, with\u00a0healthcare coming out tops. Almost two thirds (63 per cent) said they\u00a0would\u00a0be most concerned about losing access to the NHS. While more than a quarter (26 per cent) would be most anxious about a lack of suitable options for care in older age.<\/p>\n
Other worries include political uncertainty of life living in the EU.<\/p>\n
Looking into the top priorities for retired life, the research shows that, while a quarter of those surveyed would list warm weather as desirable,\u00a0having\u00a0a stable income \u00a0and access to good, affordable healthcare were more important.<\/p>\n
Other concerns include feeling safe and secure in one’s\u00a0home and neighbourhood,\u00a0having loved ones living close by and good access to transport.<\/p>\n
