Downsizing can be difficult for older people. Particularly if you\u2019re looking to live in one of the UK\u2019s premier retirement hotspots, the jewel in the crown of which is Christchurch.<\/h3>\n

The Dorset town\u2019s rolling countryside and venerable history have made it irresistible to those looking for a slower pace of life.<\/p>\n

As of 2018, nearly a third of the town\u2019s population is retired*.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>This popularity has made Christchurch one of the Southwest\u2019s priciest postcodes. Recent research has revealed that \u00a3227,000 (the cost of an average home in the UK) will get a buyer only 687 sq. ft. of space in Christchurch \u2013 the size of only a one-bedroom flat**.<\/p>\n

This represents worse value than even Bath, long considered one of the UK\u2019s most expensive places to live, and is only a little better than Bristol.<\/p>\n
