Battersea Place Retirement Village is using innovative technology to broadcast live productions of theatre, opera and dance direct to the\u00a0village’s cinema room.<\/h3>\n

The first will be Donizetti’s comic opera Don Pasquale which will be screened direct from The Royal Opera House on October 24.<\/p>\n

The technology is the same used in mainstream cinemas to broadcast productions from great performance venues as The National Theatre and Royal Opera House.<\/p>\n

Battersea Place will bring world class dance, theatre and opera to the village where home owners can enjoy productions from the comfort of their own private cinema.<\/p>\n

The screenings are scheduled into 2020 with residents set to enjoy other live performances including Puccini’s La Boh\u00e8me, as well as the ballets: Copp\u00e9lia by Delibes, and Tchaikovsky’s the Nutcracker and the Sleeping Beauty.<\/p>\n

Carolyn Henderson, Battersea Place General Manager enthuses, \u201cWe are really excited to have installed the technology because culture is something the residents get such enjoyment from, not just because of the performances themselves, but also the conversation and passion it provokes.<\/p>\n

“We also want to provide enjoyment to those who wouldn\u2019t be able to get to these venues. It’s wonderful to be able to bring residents together to see such top-end productions.\u201d<\/p>\n

Battersea Place is London\u2019s first luxury retirement community, situated on Albert Bridge Road, opposite Battersea Park and a stone\u2019s throw from the shops and cafes of Chelsea.<\/p>\n

It has 103 one, two and three-bedroom apartments and penthouses \u2013 which bridge the gap between independent and assisted living with 24-hour support services on hand should the need arise.<\/p>\n

Like all LifeCare Residence villages, Battersea Place invests highly in the social interaction, mental stimulation and physical activity of its residents \u2013 both within the retirement village, using the hotel-inspired facilities and also with a specially-curated calendar of events and a chauffeur service.<\/p>\n

For some residents it is a challenge to travel to enjoy activities that are so beneficial to social wellbeing.\u00a0For those the team at Battersea Place has installed technology to enable \u2018Live From\u2019 screenings of film, theatre performance from participating venues around London.<\/p>\n
