Residents at McCarthy & Stone developments may have downsized to a smaller property, but it doesn’t mean they have to downsize on Christmas, especially when they are part of a warm and close-knit community.<\/h3>\n

McCarthy & Stone developments are well into the festive season. They are alive with Christmas decorations and a full-on activity programme that includes welcoming school choirs and visits from the cheery fellow with a white beard.<\/p>\n

At Shilling Place, a Retirement Living development in Purbrook, residents brought joy to the local community with a Christmas tree they helped decorate in the town as part of St John\u2019s Church Festival of Trees.<\/p>\n

Over at Austen Place, a Retirement Living Plus development in Alton, residents were treated to a warming glass of mulled wine whilst enjoying live renditions of traditional Christmas carols from the Anstey Junior School choir.<\/p>\n

At Clarendon House in Poole, the Ocean Academy school choir took centre stage to perform some festive favourites, while at Heathlands, a Retirement Living development in Farnham Common, seasonal songs from the talented school children of St Mary\u2019s Farnham Royal C of E Primary School, brought different generations together.<\/p>\n

Residents from Elizabeth Court in Market Harborough arranged for Father Christmas to pay a visit to local children from Meadowdale Primary School as a surprise thank you for the wonderful festive performance they gave them.<\/p>\n

Events such as these are all part of McCarthy & Stone\u2019s series of \u2018At Home\u2019 events. Inspired by the old Victoria tradition, an \u2018At Home\u2019 day was a grand social custom where women would send calling cards to their acquaintances inviting them round for tea.<\/p>\n

Looking back on this fond custom, McCarthy & Stone residents were given their own personal calling cards to send out to friends and family, as well as to older people from the wider community to come and join in the festivities and to feel \u2018At Home\u2019.<\/p>\n

Geoff Bates of McCarthy & Stone said: \u201cAt Christmas community really matters.<\/p>\n
