But you can join in any time during the four weeks.

A metaphor for the ancient pilgrim route across Northern Spain, the Brandenburg Camino invites singers to collaborate over Zoom in a study of a popular choral work lasting four weeks.

Each four week Step culminates in a video performance you record at home on your phone!

Rehearsals, study aides, and social interactions bring each Step to life, with individual and small-group opportunities and the chance to vote for the repertoire for the following Step.

Social activities are based in the virtual El Camino Wine Bar, officially opened by Baroness Nicholson of Winterbourne, a keen musician and politician.

An impressive 200 Friends of Brandenburg signed up for Step 1, and registration is now open for Step 2 which starts on Sunday 9 August.

The Camino Project gives everyone the chance to learn with Brandenburg Artistic Director Bob Porter and Vocal Consultant Matthew Buswell. Members also get to sing with a backing track recorded by professional musicians, and enjoy online social time with other music lovers.

Musician, conductor and founder of the Brandenburg Festival Bob Porter said: “Making an online recording is merely an end product, and just doesn’t satisfy the regular choir singer’s hunger for music and social interaction. We’ve added a whole range of extra activities and I think we’ve developed a project that’s serious about what it does, but doesn’t take itself too seriously.”

Baritone Matt Buswell, who is also offering members 30-minute private singing lessons, said, “Creating bespoke vocal sessions means I can provide an opportunity for a singer to find, and explore, their voice after a possible lockdown hibernation.”

Those who took part in Step 1 of the Camino clearly loved the experience.
