Retirement developer Auriens has won an appeal to start transforming an historic site in Kensington into a high-end retirement village<\/h3>\n

Auriens, renowned for Auriens Chelsea, one of the capital’s most luxurious developments, has been granted planning consent for a 142-home scheme at\u00a0Heythrop\u00a0College on Kensington Square.<\/p>\n

The site,\u00a0within the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea in South West London, currently houses a Grade II listed college building, three townhouses and further student accommodation and classroom buildings, all of which will be converted into homes and facilities.<\/p>\n

The ‘village’ will comprise 330,000 sq ft of residential living, designed by\u00a0award-winning New York-based architects Kohn Pederson Fox \u2013 whose previous projects include the Heron Tower in London, and The Royal Atlantis in Dubai.<\/p>\n

Apart from the one and two-bedroom apartments which will be available to rent by those over the age of 65, there will be many on-site amenities including a restaurant, cinema, wine room, library, swimming pool, spa and gym.<\/p>\n

Tenants will also have access to two acres of interconnected landscaped gardens created by Andy Sturgeon, winner of both \u2018Gold\u2019 and \u2018Best in Show\u2019 accolades at the 2019 Chelsea Flower Show.<\/p>\n

With access to public transport on the doorstep, residents will also be able to enjoy all the cultural and social offerings the capital has to offer, with the shops and tube station of Kensington High Street nearby.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are delighted the Planning Inspector upheld the original decision of RBKC in granting planning consent for this world-class development,” says\u00a0Auriens Chief Executive, David Meagher.<\/p>\n

“With our Auriens Chelsea scheme on track to open mid-2021, we are seeing strong levels of demand from local residents, and we expect to see the same uptake for Auriens Kensington.<\/p>\n

“It has taken three years of hard work to get this planning in place, and we are very grateful to all the stakeholders and Auriens employees who worked tirelessly to get this result.\u201d<\/p>\n

Like Auriens Chelsea, Auriens Kensington will cater to the growing number of affluent retirees who are looking to downsize from larger homes without compromising on location or quality of living, but have the option to take advantage of exceptional on-site nursing care as and when needed.<\/p>\n
