Awards 2020.<\/p>\n<p>It is the fourth retirement development award Adlington has received in the last five years.<\/p>\n<p>The Bridges in Macclesfield won the WhatHouse? Silver Award in 2019, Adlington House in Otley won Gold in 2017 and Adlington House in Portishead won Bronze in 2015.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The view from the judges<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Among the comments from judges, all the award-winning developments have had special praise for their idyllic locations, which often combine pretty, waterside settings with stunning countryside views and easy access to bustling market towns.<\/p>\n<p>They have pointed out the beautiful landscaped gardens, with raised flower beds where homeowners \u201ccan get their hands dirty with a bit of gardening whenever they wish, go for a stroll or just sit and relax\u201d and the fact that most of the apartments have their own private balcony or patio.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/newclone.retiremove.co.uk\/blog\/?attachment_id=42364\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-42364 alignright \" src=\"http:\/\/newclone.retiremove.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/THE-FOLDS-APT-48-LOUNGE-5-low-res-1024x682.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"497\" height=\"331\" \/><\/a>They have always been impressed by the interiors, highlighting that the high standard of specification: \u201cThoughtfully designed to blend a contemporary feel with understated elegance and includes a table-service restaurant, lounge and separate coffee lounge, therapy suite, activities\/fitness studio and a hairdressing salon.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>They recognise the importance of the personal touch from the staff, who provide round-the-clock support, 365 days a year, along with an emergency call system to give residents and their families peace of mind.<\/p>\n<p>And the flexible personal care provision.<\/p>\n<p>Most of all, they recognise the fresh approach to retirement living: \u201cChatting to residents over lunch in the restaurant or in the homeowner\u2019s lounge and the happy ambience of the building is tangible \u2013 a clear and deep community spirit.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>We thought we would ask some of our owners what <em>they<\/em> think makes Adlington Retirement Living so special.<span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Discovering a community with a zest for life<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201c<em>We wanted to know what sort of community we would come to. We found out about Adlington and what activities went on and we actually went to look at some other developments but we preferred Adlington. We know they\u2019re the best now! That couldn\u2019t be further from the truth here. Before the lockdown I went to Physiofit every week and I had just started chair yoga. When we first moved in we had our old neighbours over for lunch and friends over for coffee. We had a couple of drinks with our nextdoor neighbours too. The biggest is the main bedroom and two of the rooms I\u2019ve converted into a study and a library. My lounge has an eight-seater suite and it\u2019s positioned well in relation to the kitchen so I can \u2018dine and wine\u2019. I have a beautiful wrap-around balcony and it\u2019s truly wonderful. The apartment, as far as I\u2019m concerned is the best apartment in the whole of Southport and Churchtown. It\u2019s absolutely marvellous. It\u2019s really luxurious.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>\u201c<em>I\u2019m looking forward to having all of my children and grandchildren come for a meal in the restaurant here at The Sailings. I would be delighted to take them all for dinner at their Grandad\u2019s Five Star hotel. That\u2019s what we refer to it as! I\u2019ve got a few pots on my patio and then I can see the nice garden and I haven\u2019t had to look after it.\u201d Rona, 84, The Sailings<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The extensive, leafy gardens are maintained by an expert team of gardeners so owners can do as little or as much as they want.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cWe enjoy gardening. John has a small allotment here and has managed to grow some carrots, potatoes and beetroot. We have two pots on our patio and we\u2019ve just put some new bulbs in them so we\u2019re waiting for them to come through now. We also have a garden on either side of our patio that\u2019s our own, and then the main Adlington gardens are beautiful.\u201d John and Marcia, The Cottons<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Help on hand whenever you need it<\/strong><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>In recent times many owners have said how much it has helped to have such a strong sense of community and a friendly management team on site to provide advice, assistance and moral support.<span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cIt\u2019s been nice to have the company of the staff and they\u2019ve taken care of all my needs, even doing some shopping. Although our elegant restaurants had to temporarily close for a period of time, our catering teams offered the same high standard of freshly-prepared, delicious lunchtime meals and delivered them directly to our Homeowners\u2019 front doors, always maintaining social distancing and sanitising trays between deliveries. Our team members went shopping and collected prescriptions and we created \u2018pop-up shops\u2019 at each development to provide a safe and easy way for owners to pick up everyday essentials.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cAll the girls here have told me if I need anything at all, I\u2019ve only got to say. Moving here is the best thing I\u2019ve done because I can talk to people, I can get out and about or go for a walk around the garden if I want to.
