Katri Hay<\/p><\/div>\n

Resident Katri Hay has just celebrated her 102nd birthday and is among a total of seven members of the prestigious \u2018100 club\u2019 at Signature’s Brentwood care home.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was a delight to celebrate this special milestone with Katri and our residents,” said General Manager Victoria Read.<\/p>\n

“We are honoured to have so many 100-club residents living happily here. Despite the challenges of the past year, everyone remains engaged and in good spirits.\u201d<\/p>\n

Katri has enjoyed a wonderful eventful life.<\/p>\n

Following an exciting and illustrious career working for the YMCA and the American Ambulance Mechanised Transport Corps, she decided at the age of 87 to move to France to be with her son Patrick and lived there happily for eight years.<\/p>\n

She then moved into The Signature Senior Lifestyle’s the Beeches in Essex, seven years ago when she was 95 and hasn\u2019t looked back.<\/p>\n

Two residents,\u00a0Katri and Gretta have turned 102 and 105 respectively, at Signature Senior Lifestyle\u2019s The Beeches in Brentwood.<\/h3>

The ladies celebrated their milestone birthdays with fellow residents and staff and join seven other happy residents who are all members of the prestigious \u2018over 100 club\u2019 at the care home, which is believed to be the highest in a single home in the UK.<\/p>

Following an exciting and illustrious career working for the YMCA and the American Ambulance Mechanised Transport Corps, Katri made the decision to move to France at the age of 87 to be with her son Patrick and lived there very happily for 8 years.<\/p>

She then moved into the Beeches seven years ago when she was 95 and hasn\u2019t looked back since, becoming an incredibly popular member of the home.<\/p>

Meanwhile Gretta joined the Beeches in February 2016, following a fulfilled life that included a rewarding 25-year career in physiotherapy before a chance flutter on a property auction led to her becoming a property entrepreneur, developing houses before eventually selling her property company to the construction company Wimpey.<\/p>

One of Gretta\u2019s highlights include flying on Concord. \u201cWe were flying into the sunrise and I could see the earth\u2019s curvature from my window,\" she recalled. \"It was the most beautiful thing I have ever seen.\u201d She lives by her own mantra: \u201call you need in life is kindness, common sense, and a little bit of luck.\u201d<\/p>

Victoria Read, General Manager at The Beeches, said: \u201cIt was a delight to celebrate these special milestones with Gretta and Katri.<\/p>
