As we emerge after months in lockdown, those living in an Enterprise Retirement Living (ERL)<\/a>\u00a0village report having lived the good life \u2013 with only their waistlines suffering<\/h3>\n

The Red House<\/p><\/div>\n

Friendly and dedicated staff at ERL’s villages, Boughton Hall<\/a> in Chester and The Red House<\/a> in Ripon pulled together and went out of their way to make sure that owners were kept safe.<\/p>\n

Helping residents with shopping, collecting prescriptions and newspapers, posting letters, and delivering refreshments and three-course meals transformed owners lives during lockdown.<\/p>\n

Their wellbeing was nurtured too.<\/p>\n

Every day, members of the team would buddy up and make sure that every resident had a call or a socially-distanced chat to check that they were all right and had everything they needed to make them feel part of the community and comfortable in their apartments.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere can\u2019t be anywhere more perfect to be at a time like this,” said Sylvia, an owner at The Red House. “The weeks just seem to fly and there is no feeling of loneliness.\u201d<\/p>\n

The managers also provided a variety of entertainment \u2013 weekly quizzes, books, DVDs, regular newsletters and special treats to keep owners engaged and connected.<\/p>\n

They arranged A Cocktail and a Snack<\/em> evenings, making deliveries to each apartment in the style of The Great Gatsby, and other themed events.<\/p>\n

Chefs cooked cakes and biscuits and each apartment was presented with a hamper full of goodies.<\/p>\n

“It’s like a 5-star hotel,” enthused an owner at Grade II-listed Boughton Hall.<\/p>\n

Both villages are situated in landscaped grounds, so daily strolls were encouraged, and neighbours were able to see each other as well as the friendly faces of the village staff.<\/p>\n

Everyone enjoyed the fresh air and the changing colours of the seasons and the abundance of fauna and flora within the gardens.\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

When the regulations (and weather!) permitted, outside entertainment in the form of barbecues or Pimm\u2019s Parties<\/em> were arranged to bring people together in a community spirit.<\/p>\n

The momentous anniversary of VE day was celebrated together, and everyone contributed a memory to be shared of their time during the Second World War.<\/p>\n

The staff at the villages worked tirelessly to make sure that everyone felt safe, secure and looked after, and, in turn, ERL made sure that staff received regular surprises of cupcakes, wine, sweets, chocolates, and last but by no means least \u2013 Betty\u2019s Fat Rascals<\/em>!<\/p>\n

Lockdown in ERL\u2019s retirement villages was a little hard on the waistline, but the community pulled together and everyone looked out for each other.<\/p>\n

“I feel really privileged to be here especially during this past year. We are so very well looked after by all the wonderful staff,” said a satisfied resident at Boughton Hall.<\/p>\n
