Retirement living developer and operator Elysian Residences<\/strong> has inspired pupils from a North London primary school to design<\/strong> site-safety drawings for the hoardings at its<\/strong>\u00a0new development, The Oren<\/strong>, currently under construction in Hampstead.<\/p>As part of a four-month collaborative project,\u00a0pupils aged 7 to 9 from St Agnes RC School<\/strong> received a special presentation on building-site health and safety issues from Elysian Residences. They<\/strong> were then asked to create an illustration to show some of the dangers that exist on a building site and enter them in a school artwork competition.<\/p>The pupils were told that five illustrations would be chosen, and transposed onto the site hoardings of The Oren<\/strong> development.<\/p>The judges were Janine Jasper representing Elysian Residences;<\/strong>\u00a0Tony Cobb, The Oren<\/strong> Site Manager from Kingscote Construction<\/strong> and St Agnes<\/strong> teacher Nadia Panas-O\u2019Brien.<\/p>The winning artists were then invited to a special site tour at The Oren<\/strong> to view their newly-installed artwork and gain a further understanding about health and safety in the construction industry.<\/p>St Agnes Head Teacher Susan O'Reilly<\/strong>\u00a0commented: \u201cWe are very appreciative of educational opportunities that can both stimulate and inspire pupils, which is why opportunities like the building site health and safety presentation provided by Elysian Residences<\/strong>, are important.\u201d<\/p>\u201cWhile not all 120 pupils who saw the presentation were able to win and visit The Oren<\/strong> building site, the information and issues presented have provided food for thought, as pupils realise that building sites are not just about deliveries of cement and bricks.\u201d<\/p>\u201cOur budding artists were thrilled to have won and excited to be able to visit a real building site and see their works displayed: the child sized Hi-vis vests were greatly appreciated and made them feel part of the site team.\u201d<\/p>
